Trademark Law
In the Dominican Republic,
copyright protection for Trademarks, Trade
Names and other Distinctive Signs such as
commercial labels, emblems and logos is
established under a modern law dated April
18, 2000, namely Law Nº 20-00 on Industrial
Proprietary Rights.
Furthermore, the Dominican
Republic is a signatory of the Paris Convention
and of the revision made in The Hague in
1925 regarding intellectual property protection,
as well as of the 1923 Chile convention
on Trademarks.
This is why trademarks and trade names
for foreign companies and/or individuals
may be legally registered in the Dominican
Republic for the benefit of their proprietors,
regardless of their nationality.
