Trademarks and Trade Names Registration
The Dominican Republic
has an advanced legislation that lays down
the procedure to be followed for the registration
of trademarks and commercial names, as well
as the rights of the owners of those registered
trademarks and names.
The Dominican Republic is a signatory
of the Paris Convention and of the revision
made thereto in La Haya in 1925 on copyright
protection, as well as the Chile Convention
of 1923 on trademarks. As a result trademarks
and commercial names owned by foreign
companies and/or individuals can be legally
registered in the Dominican Republic on
beha1f of their owners, whatever their
nationality.
